Organic Structures and Movement
Continuing an ongoing creative partnership with electronic music artist Halina Rice, I developed a generative music video for her up-tempo track Split. Functioning as an experimental AV piece, the project is grounded in a shared visual language of abstraction and spatial design. The visual system was engineered to match the track's high-energy, beat-driven structure and swelling synth layers, requiring a precise, computational approach to motion.
The environment was constructed entirely within Blender utilizing Geometry Nodes, establishing a fully procedural system where complex forms evolve in direct synchronization with the audio. Drawing aesthetic inspiration from early 2000s generative architecture and CGI, the visual language relies on glossy surfaces, minimal textures, and pristine digital forms. To visually manifest the sharp rhythmic layers of the track, base geometries are rendered as strobing wireframes overlapping their solid counterparts. This technique echoes structural drafting processes while serving as a visual metronome for the music’s pulse. Dynamic, audio-driven camera movements further propel the momentum, pulling the viewer through the continuously unfolding digital architecture.
Beyond its role as a music video, Split serves as a technical study in applying core architectural principles—modularity, parametric control, and procedural iteration to time-based audio visual media. By designing a flexible, node-based system capable of generating variations aligned to sonic shifts, the project established a robust, scalable foundation for building adaptive, music-driven spatial environments.
