Sunken Suns Cover Art

Sunken Suns marks the final release in Halina Rice’s New Worlds series. The track’s heavy bass and layered synths set the tone for a visual that explores themes of dissolution and spatial fragmentation. The cover artwork features five planetary spheres arranged in an octahedral lattice, gradually disintegrating into particle trails. Created in TouchDesigner, the composition uses point clouds and particle physics to simulate decay and dispersion. The system is audio-reactive, with bass kicks dynamically influencing the behavior and movement of particles, embedding the sound into the structure of the visual.

Continuing the visual language of the series, this release also included a creative portrait of Halina Rice. A 3D scan of her face was captured using the iPhone’s LiDAR sensor, generating high-resolution point cloud data. The same particle techniques from the cover artwork were applied to this data, creating a visual bridge between the portrait and the track’s central aesthetic. The portrait was used in promotional and press materials, tying the project’s generative and audio-reactive strategies into a cohesive multi-format presentation.
